Fast Five – you’d think by the fifth instalment the Fast & Furious franchise would have run out of nos but this film really ‘packs a punch’. Think of what you expect from this film, and then make it really amazing! Great chases – all kinds! -, great fist fights (Vin Diesel vs. The Rock..!!), great action sequences…. everything you would want from this film is IN IT and if you suspend all disbelief and go with it, its done brilliantly. Even the cheesy lines and plot twists become enjoyable.

THE BUZZ: Just over a decade after X-Men comes this rather welcome prequel, with Bryan Singer in active producer mode and director Matthew Vaughn finally in the Marvel Universe. Ten years ago, your typical cab driver lacked the power to start a casting rumor, and we never would have thought Brett Ratner would help bring a franchise crashing to the ground. May this decade bring hope for a continuation of the original series and a good Wolverine sequel.

THE BUZZ: Will Ferrell’s gone indie in the past (Stranger Than Fiction, Winter Passing, etc.) but never with a role that feels so vital. A Raymond Carver short story in the hands of a first-time writer-director gives us pause, sure, but we’re thinking the film might have more to do with Dan Rush’s future career than Ferrell’s. Besides, Notorious B.I.G.’s son co-stars alongside Rebecca Hall (suddenly, one of our favorite actresses), and Laura Dern shows up on the lawn for a bit, too.
